What a weekend of festive fun at the Staffordshire YFC Virtual Christmas Rally. 14 classes and over 160 entries from seven clubs! The main part of our evening - The Presentation of The Queens Award. A great memory for all clubs and individuals concerned and a very proud moment for Staffordshire YFC.
As the evening of celebration was about to commence for the Staffordshire Young Farmers Queens Award Presentation Evening, guests arrived from all around the County including members from our 11 clubs and many supporters of the federation.
Once all the formalities and entertainment had finished, everyone really enjoyed a great social, plenty of fine food from Pear Tree Catering and lots of YFC reminiscing.
"What has Staffordshire YFC ever done for us?" proved to be a big success on the occasion of The Queens Award for Voluntary Service. Members from all across the county, past and present, displayed so many talents and sketches to showcase the vast array of opportunities, competitions and activities available to YFC members in the county.
As HM Lord Lieutenant Mr Ian Dudson CBE KStJ arrives at The Queens Award, he was met by County Chairman George Goodwin and David Heminsley, County President. He was then introduced to the team of County Officers, County Trustees and County Staff.

We had the pleasure of welcoming The Bishop of Lichfield, The RT Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave OBE to our service for the first time and also had our friend The Bishop of Stafford, Rt Revd Geoff Annas join us for the evening.

After the delay due to high waters, the river was still fast flowing, giving one of the fastest races in a long time!

Despite the wet start to the day, Staffordshire Young Farmers? spirits were not dampened as they welcomed school children from North Staffordshire to a day to remember on Hill Chorlton Farm, Baldwins Gate and a chance to meet farmer John Lomax as part of the Federation?s contribution towards to the Year of Food and Farming.
Staffordshire's Tug of War teams did the county proud at the West Midlands Area Finals, held at the Three Counties Show, Malvern.
The strong winds and rain didn't stop Young Farmers - the show was off to a great start with a Pre-Show reception which many said was "the best in years"!

Although there will be members who do not know Pam Shields, she has coordinated and organised the National Federation for over 38 years. To celebrate and give thanks to Pam, an event was organised at the Ingestre Suite, Stafford County Showground, which drew members, officers, and staff from across the country and across the timespan of Pam's time within YFC.

Again the AGM was held at the Ingestre Suite, at the County Showground. Prizes were presented, Nick Sanson was the speaker, and gifts were presented to Margaret Bennett to say thanks for 17 years of service as she leaves for pastures new. The Bulge Disco provided the entertainment afterwards.
A group of Staffordshire Young Farmers responded to a request from a past YFC member for some help at the Finney Group Project in Stoke. The project runs a small farm so that people in the city can see farm animals. Our members set about sorting fencing and water supplies for the pens. This project is ongoing, so you you will get another chance to get involved in the future.

YFC decorated St Mary the Virgin Church "better than for a wedding". We were joined by the NFU, SBAS, WI, CLA, REST, WFU, FWC and Country Link to celebrate Harvesttime.
Brilliant sunshine meant it was just the weather for a paddle down the River Dove! This year there were eleven entries, with the Cheadle lads coming out in first place, with possibly one of the fastest times ever (no-one has kept accurate records!).
Up until Thursday night the weather and the forecasts looked like this event could have been a washout, but the whole weekend turned out to be hot and sunny - ideal hay-making weather. Some people were even showing a little bit of fresh-tanned skin (or early stages of sunburn!). The heat certainly stretched the bar, which was near enough drunk dry.
The mixed weather couldn't dampen the Young Farmers' enthusiasm, with all the usual competitions and fun making a welcome return after the two-year break due to Foot and Mouth last year.
Brilliant sunshine all day and a great site made this year's Rally a really good day. After a whole day of competitions, Waterhouses (with 25 members, all under 20) stole the Overall Trophy for the day from all the bigger clubs - a great achievement!
