Cheadle YFC up and running!

Wednesday, July 26th, 2017

Following a very successful campaign by Staffordshire YFC, Cheadle Young Farmers Club has been running with an attendance of 40+ young people from around the area since Wednesday 28th June.

The Club has been taking full advantage of the warm evenings since June, by meeting at Oakamoor Cricket Pavilion. The members have enjoyed games of rounders, team building exercises and volleyball. On Wednesday 26th July, the Club is meeting at Oakamoor Cricket Pavilion, 8pm, for a BBQ and Quiz Social, testing both their local knowledge with a “Landmarks in Staffordshire” round as well as many others including “What was the Year?” and “Sport.”

The Club will be holding their Inaugural Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 6th September where the Club’s Constitution will be formally adopted, membership fees confirmed and most importantly, a set of new Club Officers will be formally elected to their positions as Club Chairman, Club Secretary, Club Leader and a number of smaller roles which are essential for the smooth running of any YFC club. On this night, members can pay their subscription for the year and will be issued with a membership card. The Club will then become the 11th Club within Staffordshire YFC, and hopefully take the coming year’s County membership total to over 700. Details on the venue and time for this meeting will be published shortly.

To find out more about becoming a member of Cheadle YFC, contact our County Office on 01785 248645 or our County Chairman, George Goodwin on 07974 730604.

Cheadle Young Farmers successful relaunch!

Thursday, June 29th, 2017

Following lots of interest in reforming Cheadle Young Farmers in Staffordshire, a very successful New Members Night was held on Wednesday 28th June with over 40 young potential members ranging from 10 – 23 years of age along with plenty of parents and supporters attending.

George Goodwin, County Chairman said “Cheadle YFC is destined to be in plenty of capable, enthusiastic and young hands following the initial meeting in the Cheadle and District area since the club became dormant four years ago!  It is an exciting time for all Staffordshire YFC, adding to their already strong membership across the county.

Cheadle YFC was originally founded in 1954 but closed following a lack of members in 2012.  The Club has the potential to become active in all areas of YFC and members last night showed a particular interest in getting stuck into Public Speaking, Stockjudging and Tug of War as well as various Sports.  Being a part of Young Farmers offers members aged 10 – 26 years a unique opportunity to run their own organisation, for their fellow members, in a democratic manner.  Weekly meetings and activities are shaped and organised by the members, giving them invaluable leadership and interpersonal skills for the future.

The next meeting is being held on Wednesday 5th July, 8pm at Oakamoor Cricket Pavilion, ST10 3AN for a Rounders and Social.
