Staffordshire Young Farmers Clubs are pleased to announce that their Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held on Friday 6th November, is being supported again this year by Pickering and Butters, a firm of Staffordshire Solicitors who were founded over a century ago, with offices based in Stafford and Rugeley. The County AGM is usually attended by over 250 invited guests and members of the Federation and is the most prestigious meeting of the Staffordshire YFC year. This year is going to be very different, with a virtual webinar version being planned instead of bringing everyone together in person. Retiring County Chairman, William Freeman will still being delivering a full report about one of the most unusual years Staffordshire YFC has ever experienced. Despite the Covid pandemic bringing face-to-face activities to a halt over the spring and summer, Staffordshire YFC took to social media and still gave their members a virtual Annual Rally and Virtual County Show, complete with “Shoe Box Show Floats” as a very entertaining and creative competition. As well as the Rally and Show, members had various competitions to enter as well as county online meetings and support during the lockdown. At the County AGM there is usually a number of awards and presentations including the “Most Outstanding Chairman” and “The Merit Award” which is given for the most outstanding contribution made by an individual to their club and/or county as well as club awards for Community Work and Overall Competitions. This year, they will all be announced via the Staffordshire YFC Facebook page during the week following the AGM.
William Freeman, County Chairman said “As a charitable youth organisation we are reliant on sponsorship and donations and this year has been no exception. We have been very grateful to all those who have continued to support our online activities and meetings so that we can continue to bring young people together in rural isolated areas, especially in these challenging times. We really appreciate Pickering and Butters, supporting Staffordshire YFC again this year.”

Staffordshire YFC Clubs are currently working towards their own Club AGMs along with adapting meetings which can now re-start under strict Covid-secure guidance provided by the National Youth Agency and National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs. Club Officers and Club Trustees are starting to plan and assess what activities they may be able to hold, whilst still ensuring the safety of their members is a priority at all times.
