Skilled Events Success!

Our annual skilled events night was a great success earlier this month with a record attendance. In spite of the dreary weather, the cars soon rolled in with members, friends and family eager to try their hands at classic YFC skills like churn rolling, welly wanging and ironing a shirt! With 20 events, people were free to amble around the course for a social, or rush around them all to compete for the main prize: the overall trophies. The evening was a great one, with plenty to do for all ages, and some new potential members getting to see what we do at Uttoxeter JNFU. The night was stewarded by our advisory committee and parents, who braved the drizzle to make sure the events were running smoothly, as well as help to man the BBQ and refreshment stand. County President Dave Hem spent the evening collating everyone’s scores to sort out the male and female winners in each individual event, as well as the main prizes, which were announced at the end of the night, and were as follows:

Milking the cow trophy:
Joint 3rd: Emily Morris and Hannah Norton
1st: John Jeffery

Machinery Tankard:
Joint 3rd: Martin Thompson and Jake Bostock
1st: Harry Bostock

Stock Judging Tankard:
Joint 3rd: Will and Mark Whitehurst
Joint 1st: Eve Phillips and Hollie Brookes

Overall Male Trophy:
3rd: Luke Gallimore
2nd: Mark Whitehurst
1st: Wij Gallimore

Overall Female Trophy:
3rd: Emily Phillips
2nd: Liss Bexon
1st: Zoe Foster

We would like to thank everyone who came and supported us for the evening, we are so pleased with how the night went. Another big thanks to all the stewards and helpers – especially Dave Hem! Thanks also to the Brookes family for hosting and setting up, and we hope to see everyone next year!

If you came along and are interested in joining Uttoxeter JNFU, remember our New Members Night is coming up soon and we will see you there!
