What We Did In 2003....

Once again it’s been another ‘energetic’ year for Waterhouses YFC, starting off with a trip to dry slope skiing which saw the club divide into the ‘beginners’ and the ‘professionals’. In November our annual bonfire took place, where we saw members from the past and present. Throughout the winter months our members took part in a number of competitions and then it was ‘party time’, as we were found at many of the Christmas discos!

After the New Year ball we started the year off with a talk on aromatherapy by Eunice Finny, a talk from Genus and a tour around Bell engineering, followed by many bumps and bruises after a trip to ice-skating.

One of Waterhouses greatest successes of the year was our first disco, (in many years) at the ‘one and only’ Highwayman!! with Cheadle YFC, as it was greatly attended and raised our club funds. We then had a number of different stockjudging practices, which proved worthwhile, with our members achieving high in the county competitions.

To continue the year after the Rally, we had a health and safety ‘Hands on Talk’, a trip to Rollerworld and also a robot farm. May, saw our members, ‘hard at work’ building the Waterhouses show float, themed ‘Cravendale- The Cows Want It Back’. It proved a better success than what we expected, gaining 4th place, ( this was another first for many years!) We then had a car treasurer hunt and realised that it wasn’t the clues we were looking for but each other; ’we were all lost!’

Summer saw a BBQ and sports evening, raft building, a rounders match with Ashbourne YFC and finally skilled events.

Leading up to our annual presentation evening and disco, our club meetings were a mock auction, followed by paintball and a carcass judging practice.

We would like to thank all at the county office, especially Margaret who have been a great help to the club, over the past year. A big thank you, also to all our members and club officers for making this year a great success and very enjoyable.
