What we did in 2003....

What a year the club has had, a lot of successes in bringing home the silver wear, A big thank you to all the members who have helped to win this.

The club got to west Midland Area in Call my Bluff, and the hockey. We came first in the Grass Ley competition, first in the football, second in the Public Speaking with Austin Powers, Puss-ing boots, and Lady Annabelle Fru Fru doing their amateur dramatics with after-dinner speeches. Mathew Wright came second in the dairy stock judging competition, and the club came first overall. The club came first in the Go-karting, also setting the fastest lap. We came 2nd in the bowling and made it through to the final at the AGM some how. The AGM now that’s a good weekend. As Tim Simmons and Ben Palmer know, after propping up the bar and then going for a cold morning swim in the channel. Also the dressing up seemed very popular.

The rally- Helen Bebb our excellent rally secretary brought the overall cup back to its rightful home ‘Eccleshall’. And how many members could we get on a round bale??? This year at the raft race we came second, we had a great team in Sam, Paul, James and Phil.

The whist drive was a big success; we filled the hall at Cotes Heath, in fact we had to find more tables and chairs. A very big thank you to all who helped make it such a success.

The county summer Ball held by kind permission of the madders Family was a very rare night indeed. With Paul Fenton and Dan Plant fast asleep together on the sofa. The Eccleshall show and the dog agility, Ben the dog is supposed to go through the tunnel, and not the handler especially when they get stuck. Ben also managed to go on the European Rally with YFC Discovery.

The biggest success for me was a 30ft Mars Bar, which was our float, which won at the Stafford County Show this year. It’s only the second time Eccleshall has won the float competition since the 70’s, well done to all involved.

The year climaxed in October with The Chairman’s Ball, held at the Ingestre Suite at the Showground. It was a great evening and all had a good time. It was a great way to celebrate a great year and to say goodbye to last years top table. As always we believe that the club is our members and for the club to be a great success then we need are members to take part, try things and get involved, as they will benefit the most from Eccleshall YFC
