Chase YFC started off the year with their AGM and New Members Night, and with a change in the top table, the new year got off to a good start! October brought a few trips out, including a trip to Finnings CAT, the male members of the group enjoyed this more, but the girls took an interest! Later on in the month we took another trip out to Walsall to see the illuminations, this was a good night, but some members thought they were a bit too grown up, but we all got into the spirit and a good night was had by all! October also brought the Autumn Ball, most of Chase attended the night, and all had a good night, what some can remember! November brought us the Go-Karting Competition, which unfortunately we didnít win, but made a good attempt. Into December, we had our Annual Presentation Night at The Saracens at Weston this year where some of the members received trophies for their participation in the club over the previous year. Cheques were given to Katharine House as well as County Air Ambulance for money that had been raised since the club began and it was a good chance for all the members and advisory to mix together and get into the festive spirit!
We all got the New Year off to a good start with the New Year Fling Ball, and again, most of Chase YFC attended and we had a good night. Towards the end of the month a few people went along to the Snowdome at Tamworth, and gave tobogganing a shot. Everyone came back in one piece, so it canít have gone down too badly!
With Spring fast approaching it was time to start on the float for the County Show, this yearís theme was Disney Films. After many discussions, we finally came up with Pirates of The Caribbean, and had a successful time at the County Show picking up second place for the Float Competition, and third place in the Menís Tug of War.
With a few weeks to relax it was then time to start on this years raft. Raft Building usually ended up in a swim down the river, however we don't advise you take your mobile phone! The nights ended up in the Lamb and Flag, and when it came to the Raft Race, we finished the rafts off at the last minute and didnít get placed, but everybody enjoyed taking part!
Closing the Young Farmers year we did an exchange with Thirsk Young Farmers from Yorkshire. They came to us in August and many people wondered what we were letting ourselves in for, but they turned out to be a nice bunch of people, and they couldn't get over the speed of life in Staffordshire, as well as the speed of some peopleís driving! They attended our Summer Beach Party with many others from the County, and we all had a good night, despite the weather. Most of Thirsk woke up slightly wet the next morning but we ended the weekend with a good Sunday lunch and chatter about the previous night, mainly about some peopleís attempts at the yard of ale! We later waved them off and all wondered what we would be letting ourselves in for later on in the year on our return visit!
