Ashley YFC Club Report 2004-05

At the start of the year, Ashley members attended the ball held at the Kings hall in Stoke. A good night had by all.

The last Tuesday of October Ashley had a really good fun and games night with a Halloween theme, there was a good turn out of members to enjoy the games that Edward and Lesley Peak organised.

During November John, Rhianne and myself planned and organised Ashley’s early Christmas party, with help from everyone the night went well. Georgina and I attended the club officer training day at Stanley head, we both had an excellent day, and we were not put off by the rain.

During the weeks leading up to Christmas we met on Tuesdays and went on several outings. Our annual Christmas meal was held at the Madonna Club Stableford, it was an excellent evening, and was supported by past and present members.

Another New Year and to start it off we headed to the show ground for the New Year Ball, this was well attended by the majority of Ashley YFC. Also in January we attended the county quiz, and took part in the bowling competition.

In February Ashley hosted the darts competition at the Madonna Club, this seemed to work well as a venue for the darts competition, and it was nice for the competition to be close to home for the members. We entered a team in the Brains trust competition and considering that two of the members had only joined days before we did exceptionally well. During the next couple of months, we entered teams into the county pool competition. Then Louise and Katie bravely entered into the Ley competition, not realising they knew so mush about grass they did exceptionally well.

Before we knew it, it was county rally time Ashley entered into many competitions, John Slater winning the best promotional leaflet. Also Ashley won how many members on a board won jointly with Ridware. Ashley had a busy summer in July Ashley entered a raft at the county raft race, Chris Ian, Fiona and Charlotte had great fun aboard the raft, finishing a good half an hour after the other rafts we came a respectable last, oh well it’s the taking part that counts!!!! Also in July Ashley held their second Kinky Maids and naughty Butlers Party held by kind permission of Joyce and John Lomax. At Hill Chorlton Farm. This was the highlight of the year for Ashley, the party was a huge success well supported by other clubs. We tried out something new, the Vodka bar, we had many different flavours on sale and they proved to be popular as we had sold out by the end of the evening!!!

August and September has seen the club organising our new top table, planning ways in which to attract new members.

I would just like to say a big thank you to John for all the help and support over the last year, also to Julia and all the county officers for their help, advice, support and also for always believing in us.
